Demons Youth Hockey - Development Program
ABOUT
Under the direction of the Development Director, the Development Department is responsible for the operation and organization of the Development Programs. These include our Learn to Skate and Little Demons programs. In addition, the Development Program contracts instructional hockey companies to provide our travel teams with skills sessions throughout the season.
We strive to introduce players to the great sport of hockey through basic instruction and individual encouragement. Unlike all other sports, hockey takes place on a completely foreign surface…ice. To make matters more challenging, players have to master this surface on extremely thin metal blades. It’s amazing how resilient children can be when presented with a challenge, when given the proper instruction and praise. By learning to skate, children are not just learning how to enjoy a new sport, but experiencing that with persistence and hard work they can achieve a goal.
STAFF
Development Director – Katie Blasi
This will be my second year as the Development Director, after participating as an on-ice volunteer in the Demons Development Program. I live in Ashland with my husband and three children. My oldest child is now a Mite, and my younger two chiIdren participate in the Development programs. I truly enjoy coaching, and I currently coach the Varsity Girls Lacrosse and JV Field Hockey teams at Ashland High School. I played hockey growing up in Syracuse, NY, and I'm looking forward to helping children learn new skills and sharing the fun of hockey.
2022-23 SEASON
Skill Instruction
We welcome back Do Work Hockey Instruction to the Demons Youth Hockey Association. Do Work Hockey Instruction is owned and operated by former Demons player Jacob Schuster. After his youth hockey as a Demon, Jacob went on to play hockey for Lawrence Academy, juniors in the USHL and college at RPI. Following in his father’s footsteps, Jacob continued on to coaching and hockey instruction. Do Work has recruited a number of successful area hockey instructors to join their staff including Will Ortiz (Head Coach Framingham HS) and Mike Geragosian (BU goalie coach, premier national goalie instruction). Do Work’s philosophy echo’s todays hockey evolution of top end skill at full speed. Players will be encouraged to push their skill boundaries while maintaining proper form and technique.
