Demons Hockey Placements are here!
At this time each year the Demons Youth Hockey Association (DYHA) conducts its Team Placements. This is an opportunity for DYHA to evaluate each player to help determine which team is best suited for that player during the next hockey season. Any individual planning to or even considering playing for DYHA during the 2021-22 Season should attend player placements. DYHA is open to players who live in Hopkinton, Holliston, Ashland, and surrounding towns. Please pass along this information to anyone who might be interested in playing for the Demons next season.
Registration for the 2021/22 season is open at the Demons Registration Page.
YOU MUST BE REGISTERED IN ADVANCE WITH USA HOCKEY AND DEMONS YOUTH HOCKEY TO ATTEND PLACEMENTS.
DYHA utilizes age appropriate player skills sessions and scrimmages to evaluate players. Specific dates, times and locations are listed below for each age level. This information will also be available on the Demons Website. Upon arriving at the rink please check-in with a Demons representative in the assigned rink.
What to know before the day of placements:
-
All players up to and including the PeeWee age level will be placed on a team. At the Bantam Level some players may not be assigned a team. Final Bantam team placement will be based on player placement scores and available number of players.
-
Prior to being allowed on the ice for placements, all players must register with DYHA, register with USA Hockey, and make a tuition down payment.
-
Full time goalies will be evaluated during Skills and Scrimmage placements at the Squirt, PeeWee and Bantam Levels. Part time Squirt goalies should register as a player.
-
Review the placement schedule and ensure that your player attends the appropriate placement. Your player's skills placement date and time is determined by their birth year and first letter of their last name.
-
All players participating in the placement sessions must wear full hockey equipment. No equipment will be provided by DYHA the day of placements.
-
Players will be assigned a pinnie at the registration/check-in desk the day of each placement. The pinnie number and color will have no significance to the player's ability, rating, or placement. The pinnie number must be fully visible to the evaluators while the player is on the ice. Please confirm this before your player steps on the ice.
-
Players must be fully dressed and ready to step on the ice before the start of each placement session. Players may not display a name placard on their jersey during placements, even if the pinnie appears to cover the name. Jerseys may be worn inside-out to satisfy this requirement. This is a perfect opportunity for kids to wear a jersey from another favorite team.
-
The skills placement is based on the USA Hockey skills syllabus for that age level and will evaluate skating/edge control, shooting, puck control/passing, and hustle/awareness. Scrimmages will utilize these same categories.
-
Players who miss one or more evaluation session will not receive a score for that session, and it will be up to the Coaching Director to recommend to the Demons Board of Directors (BOD) a placement for that player based on all available data for that player. The Coaching Director may also recommend to the BOD that a player who missed one or more evaluation sessions participate in the Fall Placement Process.
-
Current players who choose not to be evaluated will not receive a placement score and will therefore be placed at the lowest level team for their age bracket in the upcoming season.
If you have any questions or concerns with the placement process please contact Coaching Coordinator Joshua Fournier coaching@demonsyouthhockey.org
