The Learn to Skate program is divided into groups based on skating ability. Classes are instructed in coordination with the USA Hockey Development Program and our partnership with Solid State Hockey.
All skaters are required to wear a HECC certified helmet with a cage, skates, elbow pads, knee pads and hand protection (hockey gloves, winter gloves or mittens). In addition, hockey pants should be worn as your player progresses to Zones 2 and 3 as their speed increases and further protection may be desired.
It is optional for Learn to Skate players that are in zone 3 to use a stick during Learn to Skate, in order to get used to skating with a stick. There will not be any pucks used during Learn to Skate. A youth wood stick or a street hockey stick is fine. Players in zone 1 and zone 2 will not use a stick.
All NEW LTS registrants receive a Demons Youth Hockey practice jersey.
Further questions about the Learn to Skate Program or other Development Programs can be sent to our Development Director Matt Czerkowicz.
